We all know how it works with a comedy show right? You sit there. The comedian makes jokes. You laugh. Everyone goes home. "Get Up and Laugh" takes the traditional comedy show and turns it on its ear! In this show, the audience gets in on the act! Shawn mixes improvisation with scripted comedy and brings up members of the crowd to be his "co-stars". They may become costumed characters from the history of America. Maybe they will be Harley bikers. They might even get to do the sound effects for a wild story. The end of the show gets the entire room in on the act. With audience contributions, Shawn gives a presidential speech that will have everyone in stitches! In addition to being absolutely hysterical, it is clean! SO, what are you waiting for? About Shawn Rapier...
Shawn knew he wanted to do comedy when he was in high school. In his young twenties he became a member of the Garrens Comedy Troupe, an improv and sketch troupe at BYU in Provo Utah. At the same time, he began honing his stand-up skills at various local clubs.
He quickly became a favorite on the corporate entertainment scene with his stand-up show. One night, Shawn figured out how to use some of his improv skills in his stand-up show. Just like that, a show was born! Shawn has now done this interactive style of comedy for over ten years. He has performed for groups from twenty to over one thousand and for audiences ranging from church groups to a particularly rowdy group of bikers. In every situation he has left the audience howling.
In addition to performing, Shawn has written over thirty commercials and corporate films, has written award-winning short films and has starred in two popular comedy DVDs.
